Ancient Chains Class April 26 & 27 2008

The
Ancient Chains and Loop in Loop class will
be offered on:
April 26th and 27th 2008

Students will learn the basics of Loop in Loop and Single strand chains based on Classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian styles. All students should have previous experience working with acetylene torches. Students are required to bring their own tools and can purchase supplies during the class. The class is 12 hours total with 6 hours of instruction on both Saturday and Sunday. The class will cover several types of Loop in Loop (one way single, one way double, two way single and two way double, and sailors chain); and several types of single strand chains (Picenes chain, single strand: single, double and triple linked); there will also be demos on several types of simple hook and toggle closures. Each type of chain will be demonstrated and students will make a sample piece 1 to 2 inches long. Please contact the Made in Metal studio for more information.

The class is $300 + a $25 registration fee

Hand Tools for the class:

1 or 2 awls, Round nosed pliers, flat nosed pliers, small vise, wire cutters, 00 smith torch tip if you've got one, Compressed charcoal block or clean new solderite block
